Put a Sock In It

Okay so really that should be put a sock ON it.

Well socks have all to what I was finishing up today, trim for the stairs. I was watching an old episode of Rehab Addict on my Roku last night and one of the tips Nikki had on it was using socks when staining. Well really she was using them to get the dust off the sanded wood, but whatever. Since I found 4 socks {all stretched out and never stay on} I decided to try it to stain my tiny pieces of quarter round and the one lone 1x in the stairs.

It is so simple, open the can, stir, dip your fingertips {already 'socked'} and wipe the wood!

After you wipe and let the stain sit a few minutes, while your waiting fold the ankle part of the sock up over your hand.

So I guess your wondering about the stain coming through the sock? Well you could put a cheap disposable glove on, a kitchen latex glove, or you could go commando...no glove. I went no glove. It is easy to fix stained fingers, just grab a hand scrub as soon as you have closed your can of stain and thrown the sock away and scrub those fingers down. Just remember to moisturize afterwards.
